A soul cries for mercy,
for a moment without anguish,
for a moment of peace and happiness,
from the surrounding horror and darkness.

A soul cries for companionship,
for a moment to share with,
for a moment of security and happiness,
from the surrounding loneliness and emptiness.

A soul cries for help,
for a moment of love and care,
to survive the surrounding harshness.

But in vain…
And then, it cries no more.
