A spiteful word

a poem by Prashanth

A spiteful word, thrown into the wind
Hurts beyond logic and beyond bounds.
The gal you loved and adored beyond all;
The one you thought knew you most;
Would be the one to bleed.

Loss of patience and loss of hope
Is not the reason to unleash
A weapon without a cure.
I feel the pain too as a killer!
So does she as the victim.

How would I convince her!
It was not meant or poisoned.
It was not due to change as was implied
It was despair and the longing to be loved.

Would she understand that and forgive?
Would she heal mine and come into my arms?
Where she once felt safe and at home.
Would she recognize a friend!
For what he was and will always be?
