Indeed Beautiful!

a poem by Giridharan

In arrant act of obsession with beauty
For a fleeting moment let’s pause
And admire a creation so wondrous
That hath no peer, nay in heaven nor abyss.
Blushing, return the rays that kiss
And she herself in joy sparkles
The stars yonder
In embarrassed daylights of envy disappear
Behind clouds and haze
Vowing to be
Unrivalled in a darker midst
Yet the night, poesy engraves
The eternal verse
‘Like diamonds in the sky’.

Sifting sands, peasant finds
A grain that more shines
Delight sweats
From his countenance
So in ardent indulgence
He homeward runs
And to his precious one
Bequests his precious stone
In mitigated relief
She makes squealy moan
‘Priceless gift he’s me brought
Sure he loves me true’.

Curious child it’s mother asks
Where hie the meteors?
After fleeting flashes in the sky
She lets an answer fly
Into diamonds they alter
And sparkle forever
Its the noble that never change
Death doth not their glory change.
