Cauvery Water

a poem by Rajdeep Gupta

Bangalore City has its own charm, life in its full fun
While one basks, somewhere a place which weeps,
A little lass seeks water for her dying father

There’s hunger in her eyes, grief in her soul
Which was enough for her to hold
“O! thou help me, let me get the water
My father is dying gasping for the water”
“Go away! We can’t allow you, this is
Cauvery and untouchable now”, claims the fanatics.

But does it pay any grant for the lass ask a small demand.
Why thou can’t allow her, come out of your belief.
Water is for everyone and seeks relief,

“Why agitate, can’t you settle it”?
Says the CM, “Let me walk”,
The Supreme Court says don’t have the right to do it.
All these are big thoughts, but does anyone pay
To the small soul which laments over her father’s body.
