Mismanagement

a poem by Ramesh Narasimhan

Union demands rising fast,
Nepotism, wide and vast;
Delegation a misused word;
Scapegoats made, not heard.
This is the age for marketeers;
Economy in the hand of racketeers.
Advertising, a ‘con’ game;
Recruitment, a shame.
Training is much abused;
Customers are seduced.
Degree mills gaining ground;
‘MBA’ a pleasing sound;
Perks unlimited for top cadre;
Company warfare, macabre.
Management arena is a goldmine;
CEOs methods, common headline.
Monopoly, a rule-of-thumb;
Masses do succumb.
Marketing, a conniving fad;
The customer is to be had;
Stock market crashes common;
Recovery, uncommon.
Corporations controlling destiny;
No deliverance for many.
The rupee falls against dollar;
A meek submission, no holler.
Business is in the hand of cutthroats;
The agenda for action has no votes.
If Management is what it is today;
Let us despair and pray.
