Time and changing festival

a poem by Krishnakumar

By gone days
return
like waves
frothing
disturbing new images.
Built up bricks,
iron pillars,
elevators,
aeroplanes.
“Ready to celebrate”
festivals.
Flower carpets
designed and printed,
flowers for sale.
Concrete floor
rejects offerings,
evening sun
cries
seeing carpet area
blank.
Trade fairs,
discounts,
food fests,
competitions.
Another ‘Onam’ passes
with wooden ‘Onathappan’
welcoming Mahabali.
May be
his umbrella
is now nylon,
his outfits
jeans
shirt
leather boots.
Journey of time continues.
Men dancing
to devil rhythm
vomits,
drinks vomit
vomits again.
