My Nation

a poem by Christuraj Alex

His expectant army recruitment day,
Had become his painful predicament;
As his loving wife was last stage pregnant…
A dilemma shadowed upon his way
Yet, within him dawned a light silver-ray
Hence, ahead, for his great nation, he went.

Later, he said to his sole loving son,
Whose wife too was hopingly expectant;
To ponder and make a proper judgment…
For, a life lived for one’s loving nation,
Is the greatest ever under the Sun;
As it brim-fills the jar of contentment.

These patriotic army-men are none,
Other than my father and me, his son.
