We want the temple of Ram
in Ayodhya,
I heard the strident
voice of the Hindus.
Restore the mosque in Temple,
and still the shrill
but stentorious call
of the Muslim clerics.
Two controversies
with one single aim
to build a place of worship
and appropriate all acclaim.
Surely, it’s unity
in diversity,
and what if it doesn’t
move all humanity?
But, will the roots
of entrenched beliefs
ever permit this possibility?
Damn it.
