Perfume

a poem by Uma

Some time back, I came across a perfume…
Normally, I simply hate them,
For the heady fragrance they emit,
And the strong, lingering stale smell,
They leave behind… ugh! unbearable!

But this one was different.
It wafted gently around
Filling me up with a clear shining sunlight
That had the edge of laughter
And was laced with a bit of mischief…

It freshened me up
Instead of smothering my senses,
Put me onto a swing that touched the skies again.
How much I loved it, I am unable to say,
I tried to apply it each and every day.

The bottle was soon over…
It couldn’t be refilled then.
But instead of the usual nauseating trail,
It left along soft breezy traces…
Which never fail to cheer me up every now and then!
