Give them a break

a poem by Subramaniam Sundaram

I never threw stones at dogs
I never chased those little frogs,
‘cos they too are gods make
let us now give them a break.

I loathe the idea of a circus show,
where even the mighty lion does bow.
We have taken from them all that we could take
let us now give them a break.

Pandas are becoming an extinct race,
animal by animal is losing its face.
Wildlife’s LIFE itself is at stake
let us now give them a break.

Care for them with an open heart
stop crushing them under your cart
Be wise my friends for god’s sake
let us now give them a break.
