Unlived Life

a poem by Rashee Chari

I once knew a man in a hurry
Hurtling towards success and money
Each day a fury
Of meetings, deadlines and parties
All for his sons he said
For his sons
A future lacking nothing.

Then one day he raced
In his spanking new Cielo
To a presentation
He knew will take him to the top
And the top he did reach
The point of no return
Leaving behind a widow and two sons
A life bought on credit.

I knew this man
Way too much in a hurry
I knew him well
He was my dad.
