How I wish that someday

a poem by Radhika V. Sreedhar

How I wish that someday, you and I could spend time under the wide Banyan tree,
How I wish that someday, you and I could race in the expanse of the yellow Corn field,
How I wish that someday, you and I could pick wild roses and jasmine,
How I wish that someday, you and I could read to each other tales of love and sin,
How I wish that someday, you and I could listen to the songs of the nightingale,
How I wish that someday, you and I could travel in a boat with a white sail,
How I wish that someday, you and I could laugh at each other’s folly,
We shan’t be sorry,
There are so many things to wish for and so little to choose from.
How I wish that I could wish for those few choices.
