Eternal Melancholy

a poem by Nitin Sharma

Like the lonely stretch of a river stream,
pleasure to others but lonely to be,
all alone and so hurt…
is there one who dips in me but doesn’t leave?

Eternal melancholy and a silent scream,
brushing past pain, grief and yet forcing… pushing ahead…
as if a facade beyond not to be seen!

What if I stopped by the girl who comes,
comes by every day… and sees her reflection in me.
What if I all thing near and far to collect that moment, time to stand still…

Isn’t she the only one who looks beyond me,
one who holds me in hands and yet allows me to
flow… unhindered… steady and slow.

Isn’t she the only one who I ever loved…
in the due of my many thousand eons of life.
Isn’t she the one whom I lost upon drowning in me… out of passion and greed.

Strange is woe and woe is mystery…
I drowned her to be in me and now…
I still flow all alone again… as the girl there…
stands no more!!!
