Altered Deceit

a poem by Natasha Girglani

There was no need to say
what was heard long ago
heard from the voice in my head
I knew I was wrong
It was me all this while
I tried, but the tears wouldn’t cease
Was it me that the thunder
tried to please?
Or was it me that the rain tried to warn?
but what they had longed for
before the day
I was, too blinded to see.
Afraid of the dark
I called to the shadows
I paved my way to the end
of this tunnel of darkness
this endless deceit
that lead me to an unknown path
my eyes look ahead
to find the light I could reach
but it backfired,
its brightness stole my sight.
Now I’m left here to bleed
till the end seems more clear
till I find my way out of this maze,
the tumult overcome
the future unseen
in this game, too often played.
