Cross-word

a poem by Purushothama Rao R

How do you sleep
With scribbling pads
Scrolling around

Spreading the books
With book marks
Strewn all abound

Pens, photos, clippings
Pastries, pizzas and pan leaves
Yelling sounds agog

My wife quivered aloud
“Room is stuffy think awhile”

“Don’t shrink like a sweater in wash
And be smart and fly above board

Words always sing in the heart
Books also teach sermons in lots
Our ears and eyes deserve a smart”
Quoth my mind muting in silence
