Life is but a dream

a poem by Devi Nangrani

From an eagle’s eye
I view the world
A galaxy of human faces
Like the sun, moon, stars
All rotating, all revolving
Around their parent planets.

Some smiling, others laughing
Some shining, others droning
Like the twinkling stars, or
As clowns in a merry show.

Some gigantic, others diminutive
Some feeble, some sturdy
Some lofty, some dumpy
Changing like the shadows
In the shade of cloudy light
From sunrise to sunset of life.

Some commanding, others meek
Living in the kingdom of rulers
Some humble, others full of pride
Filled with the ego of power.

This is life, but a dream
As we are the creators,
We are the character artists
Of the play that we act,
The role that we perform.

The pride of performance diminishes
As the sunset of life approaches
We have to be off the stage
To replace the fresh faces
To give brilliance to this world,
That is nothing
But a galaxy of humans
Living in the life span of breaths
To perform the best
Before leaving the stage.
