The Night

a poem by Ricia De Sa

A student studies thru’ the night for a test
She wants to do her very best
A merchant drives home very late
His family and business his fate
The houseless sleep on the pavement
Living on hopes of some fulfilment
The man of law keeps an eye
On every vehicle and passerby
The nights full of lights no darkness about
The man on the street night want to shout
Since the night has called by his time
We have to rest and welcome sunshine
A few hours of sleep to end the day
To welcome a morning and a time to pray.
