Sitting on the shore
Witness to an exhibition of fishing by sea birds,
It made me wonder
At the resemblance between them and us
There, a playful contest for catching fish
Further ahead, a display of power play
They found the accurate location
Such was their determination
Gliding birds,
Descending birds,
Plunging birds,
Rushing out of water, flapping birds
Fluttering again, taking aim, toiling birds
Few were just judging, looking at surf
Unsure of advancing on someone else’s turf
Without any prey some might have stayed hungry
Were they possibly bitter and angry?
Few were naughty
Disturbing the silent and aloof
Enveloping them in
A shower of salty globules
Few were persistent
May be they were parents
Patiently trawling
For their darlings
Few were deceptive
Jumping on the others
Seizing their conquests
Sneaking off after theft
Yes, there was a definite resemblance
But with a difference
All varieties were dancing to one symphony
Can we humans maintain such harmony?
