Up you go

a poem by Sumita Jagannathan

When you stumble, when you fall
Don’t lose courage, don’t be afraid
Rise up and look ahead
Down the road life has laid.

Murky corners, dark shadows
All play a plot in this race
The only way to move on
Is to trust yourself, your saving grace.

A fight, a run, a battle lost
Is not a blow that sends you down
A war is won when the game is done
So kindle hope and wipe that frown.

Pick up the threads when all is lost
The “all” here is but a farce
When you have heart and spirit well
Life is to hold and not to sell.

Consume all blemishes and forge your way
When you are here, you’re here to stay
When time arrives, you’ll have your say
You’ll win your dues and make your hay.
