Swathika

a poem by Sai Prasad Ramnarayanan

It was a dark night
The wind was playing the tune of sorrow
The trees were swaying to the sad tune
The sky lit up with lightening
A distant star sparkled
Guess my name sai… its named after a star
My eyes were glued tight on my assignment
Did you guess my name?
I was typing my report with furious pace
Its Swathika…
“Nice name” I retorted
That star lit up my life…
little did I realize the importance of princess buckethead
I peeped out of the window,
It was day and how I wished I saw stars
Then the sun peeped in and
I smiled mischievously…
Aren’t you a star too?
