I saw a prayer

a poem by Tagore Almeida

‘Why is there so much hatred in this world? Blah Blah Blah
War everywhere, egos are ruling this earth. Blah Blah Blah
Gosh, we’ve started human cloning in the name of science. Blah Blah Blah
New religions, new cults are promising salvation. Blah Blah Blah’.

Such thoughts are dancing on my conscience and my mind,
As I lay in these fields, hoping to leave my world behind.
The bright blue sky has set herself as the background
As the clouds and birds make me smile as they fool around.

But no matter what, these thoughts still don’t leave me,
And I’m wondering why there’s got to be so much of evil that I can see
I try to understand the world, this life and the human being,
Who is destroying the very kingdom of which he is king.

Just then I think of a million ways why GOD is to blame,
For the fouls that we play in this crazy game.
As I get up to sit I hear the stream close by,
So I turn to look at it, and the sight makes me cry.
The palm trees sway by her side
And then the accuser in me just died.

I saw the stream say a prayer,
I heard her gentle voice chant a prayer.
For all that she is, she was flowing in pride and in love
She was praying in gratitude for the man who lives above.

I walked into the stream and fell on my knees too
And bowed my head as my tears joined the stream in her prayer to you.
The stream was telling you that she loved you no matter what,
And she wanted you to be strong in the midst of the accusations that you got.

She said that she knew how much you loved your creation,
And that she was sorry that people blamed you with false reason.
She wants you to be strong, she wants you to wash your pain in her water
She wants you to know that she will love you for everything, forever and ever.

I got out of the stream and walked back home,
I turned and saw the stream as she was still praying all alone.
