Haiku

a poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

Dead leaves dance
On a bleak, empty street
Siberian wind blows.

Dogs by the east wall
Yawn and welcome the sun
Cold was their night.

Cats on sunny roofs
Peacefully lick bloodied paws
Killers in the night.

Chimney smoke, voices
Coughs rattle and running water
A new day began.
