Welcoming Summer

a poem by Sangita Sultania

With the first summer rain,
And the first summer breeze;
With those first rays of warm sunshine,
I can hear you coming softly again.

With the first chirp of summer birds,
With the first bloom of summer flowers;
And with added treat of summer evenings,
I can feel you tiptoeing in my life again.

With the first discard of warm clothes,
With the first swirl of electric fans;
And with the first taste of lemonade,
I welcome you with gleeful heart.

With the first bout of load shedding,
With those first evening walks again;
And with the first waves of nostalgia,
I know that you’re here to stay again.
