Should I let it fly?

a poem by Teesha Guliana

Sitting near the window,
I watched the sky fade.
The sky coloured itself in shades,
Shades of blue I can’t explain.
The breeze came in silently,
Making my eyelids flutter,
I watched the sun set in daze,
And disappear among the cloud-clutter.

In came a feather,
And settled nearby.
It looked wary enough,
Wary enough from its travel nearby.
I wandered along the routes it flew,
To come and settle in my paradise.

It must have flown high and low,
High and low among the clouds.
Among the bridges,
And the buildings,
I certainly don’t understand how!

It must have twirled round and round,
Or would have danced,
With the breeze around.
It must have been in storms through,
And numerous competitions too.

Would it have known,
It’s destination?
Would it want to,
Rest in here all night?
Should I keep it with me here,
Or should I let it fly?
