Salty Love

a poem by Elaine E. Howie

Yes it is bitter it is sweet
It is that salty love that makes you weep
It knows no boundaries
It is a salty love streak

I once asked myself if love was worthy
But all in all love serves it’s purpose
Even if love can’t be bought
Are so it is often thought

It will reel in the best fish
Those with the love wish
Those that dare believe
Can only hope to be deceived

Those that ask for less
Will fine love like a game of chess
Running and scurrying about
With only hearts to doubt

I see a salty lover’s plea
And I no that sooner are later that will be me
I know that I can’t stop running after love
It is all that keeps me close to heaven above

That salty love mnnnnnnn sweet
Standing free no longer salty to me
I am only a human of thin skin
I open the door to let love in
The End
