Love

a poem by Mayank Mohan Pande

Love is between two beings or between one and many,
Love is a gift of the Lord, to help us endure conflicts and live in harmony.
That this is not always possible is a very hard fact,
Jesus and Krishna revealed that despite anything we must surrender
And just for the day our roles positively enact.
Love is a caress, a gentle kiss, a hand to hold,
A step towards fulfillment despite heat and cold.
We are midway in being men and
Love helps us to endure and when required to be bold.
Love is not to give alms but to kindle hope and
Ability to the less fortunately placed,
It is protecting the weak from the slashes of malice, with sword and gun.
Love is to send to thugs a message to mend their ways before we love them,
We’ll not permit this kind of fun.
Love is what Jesus practiced, as did the Prophet, Buddha, Mahavir and Gandhi,
All lovers of the Creator
The same cruelties were even then present,
Without stealing their bliss and an internal gentle laughter.
These great men positively smiled at life and at our Maker,
Without lightning, sans thunder, just a chain driven Electric motor.
Love is between man and woman in the full moon’s light.
With a salute to the sunset, wishing the World a good night.
