Falling in Love

a poem by John Arul Prakash S

Sleepless nights of smile and worry;
Useless thoughts of yes or no.
How good she is! How bad is she!
Will she stay or will she go?
Endorphin pump or dejected slump?
Adreno rush or pinkish blush?
Thoughts painted cloudy and grey
Concealing beneath, a joy so gay
Coupled with mindless anticipation, this
Chase of improbability
And the toll it takes, unfortunately,
On my poor soul and body.
Steeped in guilt, the mind flounders.
Is this right or is this wrong?
But this is a wonder of wonders!
Makes you want to sing a song
And sprout wings and fly away
To Paradise regained, Cupid’s way!
Don’t understand why or how,
But is this what they call love?
