2.5 feet

a poem by Sidharth Kumar

A new journey preparing within me
Ecstatic time to walk through
Turning my no’s to yes’s was the key
How I persuaded my mind, couldn’t construe

And there she was standing so pretty
Doors of heart opening to greet her
The perfect picturesque of gaiety
God’s grace on this earth made me spur

Sheer efforts in every step of mine
Now standing 2.5 feet from me was she
Red-hot smiles recharging my nerves down the spine
To be mine, was she going to agree

The poised rush of my feelings
Stopped by the turbulent gush of hers
Hell broke loose into my broken ceilings
When heard I not the one she prefers

Parched sky begging for the acid rain of love
To wipe out that someone from the walls of her mind
The bitter moments I want to get rid of
Ain’t easy for a disturbed soul to go kind

Me made from the skin of truth, not a poser
All that got us apart was the strife
Distance between us never came closer
Coz 2.5 feet became the longest gap of my life…
