Love to live long

a poem by Ramachandran Nair R

I wish I lived long,
To see peace in the world,
Already weary of haste and wars,
Blown hot and cold by seasonal wind.

I wish to live not to see wars,
But the warmth of love and affection,
Mankind always longed for, to live long,
Before the death knocked at one’s door step.

I wish to live, not to get wounded,
But to wind up my life after living to its full length,
Fulfilling my worldly obligations as a whole,
To leave behind for children a world worth living.

I wish to live a life worth living,
Not in hospital beds but happy homes,
With kith and kin around,
Dancing with joy as life gets unwounded.

Will the world leaders help me,
And the mankind as a whole,
To live in a world of wonders,
And not wars weary hell I abhor?

I love to learn the art of living,
And not the art of dying,
To make this world worth living,
And help the mortal towards
The exit for immortality.
