Crossroads

a poem by Maryse Saldanha

Here I am now at the crossroad of life
Eager and anxious, what be in store for me?
I now leave behind all familiar terrain
Lay ahead new hope and unknown deep
Which way do I go? Am I on the right track?
Bright avenues before which lay a rocky path
None can walk through with me, so be I alone
Fear in my heart good faith in my soul

Someone offers a hand for me to hold on
Surprised I ask, “Where do you come from?”
He smiles at me, gently leads me on
“I’m here to walk with you till its time to move on”
“Why me?” I ask, “Why here and now?”
“Is there an answer?” he asks, I know there is not
“Let’s walk together until the sun goes down”
In agreement I follow silent we move on

What will be know not I, where the path leads I’ll go
What if the sun don’t shine? I can’t stop here I know
The path will reveal itself in sweet time I will know
I hold on to the hand and let the story unfold
