The Beach

a poem by Nandita Pai

To the beach we went,
On a hot summer day.
To splash around in the water,
And in the sand to play.
The beautiful vast blue sea,
At it I began to gaze,
When the cool sea breeze,
Blew across my face.
My little cousin and me,
Made castles out of sand.
We used tiny pebbles for windows,
Which made it look really grand.
On the sand we also played,
With a big, colourful ball.
We spotted a ship,
Which from the shore looked very small.
Oh! The splashing about in the sea,
That was the best.
We even sighted a turtle,
Which was slowly walking over to it’s nest.
On our trip to the beach,
What fun we had,
To be able to go there again,
I would only be too glad.
