Snake Dance

a poem by Jayati

Heavy armour weigh you down
Or the enemy blow your sun
How else can you protect
Innocence?
Sunshine rays
Brought from home in alien land
To spread the warmth around.
Basking in his good heartiness
Hissing snakes in the winds
Cunning cobra spat venom
Positioned with vicious friends.
Snake maidens charming dance
Put the sun in a trance
Bluish face, smeared with poison
Even the mother earth absorb, couldn’t.
Waterfall washed her fears
Eyes streamed away, venom
Through her tears
Miracle
The sun’s face was crystal clear!
