Nothingness

a poem by Aditya (Kolkata)

What actually do you mean by nothingness
Ask a person who is aimless
It surely relieves you of your tiredness
Procrastinators think it to be harmless

But it eats the victim bit by bit
Government offices are likely to be occupied by it
Its something a day dreamer has close relationship with
a blacksmith dreaming to be a goldsmith

When busy doing nothing you feel you are the king
But the truth is revealed when you step into the ring
There the masters with their grit and rigour
Show you the door; make you realize your figure

Person with this quality receives no respect
Possession of this feature is a poor aspect
It’s an abyss in your very own skull
Mostly found in people who are dull

People following this idea are doomed
This is not a way for talents to be groomed
Instead it is the reason for a person’s languish
And it rewards you with some addition to your anguish

But what actually can you fill it with?
Certainly not dust, grit and filth
An idle mind is a devil’s workshop
Don’t be this devil if you wanna reach the top

You have to leave it if success is your motto
Too much of it can make a mogul drive an auto
So the final choice is yours
Remember “nothingness” destroys, not cures!!
