As water flowed to quench my thirst
I raised my eyes into the sun
Ten thousand diamonds sparkled yonder
Upon my Golden lake.
Each diamond as it twinkled told
Of tales of lovers who became one
They disappeared into ripples to let
More hearts on its edge unite.
Then I saw that little gold fish
Reach out and grab a sparkle or two
It felt their parting, it felt their pain
And their final merging in my Golden lake.
Eve became and the sun departed
The diamonds after a joyful day
Went back into their still abode
To rest with the souls of Golden lake.
