Why smile ye?

a poem by Asha Sunil

Why smile ye O Divinity
Is it something of your works you see
That makes your ruby lips curvy
Why smile ye O Divinity?

Do ye smile at efforts vain
Do ye smile at human pain
So ye smile seeing blood rain
So ye smile seeing freedom chained

Seated on a dainty flower
Facing the sweet incensed altar
With you ever vigil eyes serene
Why smile ye O Divine?

Is this world so comic, thou children insane
Have we turn thou every boon to bane
If thou innocent smile can pain so much
How much paineth thy extreme wrath?
