The Atheist

a poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

A zealot of a non believer, always
Talks about the absence of God,
Tries to convert me to a joyless
Life without dreams! The only
Pleasure in life he says, is that of
Sex; his wife left him tired of his
Quick erections and ejaculations
Which gave her no joy.

A fearful man, my roommate is,
Talks endlessly about the absence
Of God, yet clings to his miserable
Life dreading hell in afterlife.
Look at beautiful stars a clear night,
I tell him. My innocence makes him
Laugh darkly, tells me that he’s going
To live forever.
