Shiva

a poem by Vidhya Jayarama Raja

His jatas flowing free
Snake garlands slithering around
The crescent moon rocked
By the gleeful gushing Ganga
Lotus feet broke into padams.
The percussionists struggled to keep pace
As the very sounds of life gushed forth,
From the damaru.
Life resonated
The cosmic dancer
Lifted his foot
And stood in a pregnant silence.
