Man and his Creator were taking a stroll,
With a lot of merriment and fun.
A pleasant breeze seemed to blow over,
As the clouds eclipsed the sun.
They crossed through forests and gorges,
Climbed many a hill and dale.
They passed by busy roads and streets,
And traversed many a lonely aisle.
The streams flowed with a melodious gurgle,
The countryside, a canopy of green.
Ebullient in the Almighty’s company,
So cheerful man had never been.
Many a time the man would turn back,
To view anything he did miss.
But always found the footprints of The Lord,
Side by side with that of his.
And then as black clouds began to loom,
The breeze became a ruthless gale.
Thunder deafening with all its might,
Made the man timorous and pale.
He quivered as he turned back and saw,
Footsteps! But only one pair.
Oh God! Where are you he cried,
Of my distress, aren’t you aware?
The omnipotent Lord wore a smile,
And spoke in a voice divine.
My child the vestiges you see,
Aren’t yours but that of mine.
With you I did walk along,
When the spring had its brightest hue.
But as times became terribly trying,
I was the only one to carry you.
On hearing this, the man stood anguished,
On being hasty and asinine.
Forgive me! Oh Lord! he wept,
For this callous act of mine.
The Almighty consoled his devotee,
With the splendour of love sublime.
Realization and Remorse said he,
Is the only penance for a crime.
Saying so, the Lord did depart,
To his celestial abode.
The man felt instilled with courage,
Though lonely ahead was the road.
