One winter day at Kothapalli

a poem by Bahadur Basha Gooty

You Kothapalli on one winter day
Kothapalli sank further into the snow hug
Peahen sounds coming from barren gondi
The golden sun that wakes up Kothapalli
The smell of red soil wafting wet in the snow
The cemetery became even more sacred with our ancestral carcasses
A calmly flowing Peddovanka not knowing where to go
A play ground where children are looking to play in her heart

After working all day, all the tired birds came and reached their nest
She ate little, went to sleep
That winter night shone even more in my Kothapalli
