Solitude

a poem by Sreekanthkopuri

The parrot perched
Alone on a branch
Embellished with leaves
Fluttering in the gentle wind
Drooping a gaze searchingly
for its missing mate,
in the darkest
its fulgent Flash
of silver gleam on it
To expose its beauty.
But did anybody see its sorrow
Its glossy eye welled with tears
for its missing mate.
Who knows the pain of its Solitude.
Its melancholic song, its grief,
its silent battles fought
in the unknown?
Will the missing mate
ever comeback?
When will wait over?
