Shadows

a poem by Elaine E. Howie

He said goodbye with just a shadow of a kiss
She left the passion with just a shadow to miss
My life has been a short shadow of a dream
For as long as sex is just a shadow of cream

These may have been a shadow of illusions
Maybe it is the shadow of the music
All shadows that I find
Could be shadows of my mind

It is just shadows that I look for I must
Yes it’s in the shadow of your lust
There is no shadow of the wife
It’s simply a shadow of life

I sometimes look up to shadows to soon
Only to see a happy shadow of the moon
I always wait for the rainbow to bounce off the shadows of the sun
So I can bathe the children in shadows of fun

Once I looked and looked for a shadow of something
And I checked the same shadow for nothing
I wanted to have shadows of wealth
But I found I could not bring shadows back by myself

I have something that is precious it is a shadow of a friend
No longer do I look for mysterious shadows under are around
The End
