Whirlwind

a poem by Veena Damodar

You came like a whirlwind,
Breezed away,
Leaving behind fond memories of
Mirth, Laughter and Joy.

At no other time of life,
Did I experience such joy of waiting!
Months of anguish wait changed to
Weeks, days and hours.

How delighted we were, seeing you.
Walk down the aisle,
With poise, confidence and radiance
That lit your face.
Then the warm hug!
Electrifying! Deep down to the
Core of my heart.

The house transformed to a home
With chatter and clatter.
Once again days swiftly passed by,
Was it faster than light?

Time to part, tearful goodbye,
To a land of bright future,
Albeit, too far from home.
You, walked towards the aircraft
With hope and confidence.
We, bereft with nothing but
Reminiscences of your stay,
Turn back home.

You came like a whirlwind.
Spreading joy and cheer,
Lifted our souls to high spirits
Promising to return without delay!
