Unshed Tears

a poem by Nandini R

Faith when questioned
by dear ones loved,
more painful than
poison-edged daggers.

Unmindful of this hurt
they prick us with
sharp stinging words
for sport of argument.

Insensitivity, a trademark
of man, a bitter truth.
This realization, a solace,
a balm to the burning
heart ‘n’ mind, troubled.

Sadness sails into me
“have I imposed my
faith on the multitude?”
-my question to them
tormentors… surely not.
There lies the answer
to this terrible sadness.
