Alone But Not Lonesome

a poem by Sheela K . Sharath

When the world caves in on you,
when you’re at everyone’s beck and call
and there’s nary a moment you can call your own
you’ll agree … there must be time for
everyone to dream,
to escape to a special tranquil sanctuary
to which you alone have the key!

If you’re a nature buff,
garden if you must
contact with soil is indeed
therapeutic, so plant or weed,
or take that solitary walk
up that hill where the wind’s whisper,
the bird’s chirp and the air is crisper!

If you’re an avid reader
but haven’t had time to read that book,
take the phone off the hook
and engender your escape into the pages
of that coveted book!

Find yourself in time,
to right your topsy turvy world.
Find fulfilment!
Find happiness!
The key to it lies within.
Develop your personality,
see yourself in truthful clarity!
Take time to be alone,
not lonesome
Therein lies tranquility!
Therein lies the difference!
