A meeting of old friends

a poem by Tanushree Nair

A meeting of old friends
over a cup of coffee,
or a stub-filled ashtray.
Talking about all things lost-
   faith,
   ideals,
   innocence,
   time.
Faces haunted by smiles,
that died long ago.
A frantic dive into psychedelia
or a chanting of ancient mantras.
Dances around the lost fire
and a rendezvous with truth.

A glimpse at the mirror
and an exit-
to silence.
