This word is for you

a poem by Elaine E. Howie

For every child born in whatever circumstance
this words for you,
every child when first born who could only laugh at the angels
this words for you,
for every fist every slap every kick felt by a child
this is your word.
When you forgot to do your homework, your chores, and got yelled at
make this your word.
For every child that cried out for his mother or his father and found them lacking,
every child that has been deserted
this be your word.

For the child that suffers in agony and confusion
yes I have a word for you,
if you are a special
are different child
due to gods funny character
I give to you this word.
Did you have great dreams
and in the midst of living lose sight of them
take this word.

Aahaah, I see you are that nerdy are brainy one
yes, feast on this word,
for every soft whisper you utter
every good deed you do
every misrepresentation of your inner being
I provide for you this word.

Every game you win are loose,
simply dissolves into your word,
I have reached the bottom of the top of a child’s heart
and found you laughing, chuckling, crying, giggling, roaring, and soaring,
rising and dividing into so many of my thousands of words
just to keep shuffling these words for you.

I can’t take it back
because heshe did not come back
I can’t rewind it or fast forward it just to make it better are worse
my power lies only in these words for you.
Every time I reach for the next thought
the rest of the dream
the reason behind what I write, say, and live,
I cannot help but give all these words to you.

Please take my words and hold them in just a tiny corner of your heart
and lose yourself in them as I have done,
wrap them around you embracing all that has not been said and done
and hold them in your heart knowing all along
that someone so meager and humble as myself will continue to write,
and to find friends with my words for you
until, I have measured the last part of my life
with all of your words
and then you will begin to continue your own words
solid and firm and justly so.
The end.
