Bon Voyage

a poem by Mayank Mohan Pande

Today we put our son Manu, on the plane to Bombay,
In the hope he gets a good career at sea, and with strong waves play.
He got good marks only in English and Biology,
But survived after his Scooty was run over by a truck, and God spared us the gravest tragedy.
He was calm and full of endurance, the trauma was entirely mine,
And when I was hospitalized for losing touch with reality
He proved his manhood in a manner that was fine.
Marks aside I know my tough, sports loving 17 year old to be a computer wizard,
I’m sure he’ll navigate worthy ships through storms as strong dogs lead sledges during a blizzard.
