Entre Nous

a poem by Jayati

Met a grotesque man
Government servant
Polished in underhand.
Extended
Them under the tables.
Like a hungry bull dog pup
He yelped and whined.
Bottoms up he gulped
Bottles of red wine.
Throwing words
with sissy grace
Explained
He, the matter as complex.
Grabbing at the gift wrapped case
Brought to him from the ‘Schweiz’
He promised to keep the deal,
Be merciful of the legal tender appeal.
No uncouth documentary reveal
Of transaction rightful theirs.
Pity the entrepreneurs.
