Found and Lost

a poem by Hari (Hyd)

I am lost; I keep running
In this colossal maze
Of pillars and blind alleys
What from and where to?
Is this search?
Fear grips me at every bend
I reach our for the nearest anchor
There’s always somebody – warm and caring
I calm down – calm down enough
To feel the cold
The cold pillar that I clutch
It bites into me
The lifeless stare frightens me
Everywhere they stand
So many strangers
Where is the one who is sought?
to guide and stumble with me
They are all the same
I close my eyes and see
See that I am one of them
The vision clears the way
I take the first step
Strength and courage are summoned
For I now know
There is none to lead
None to follow
But myself.
