Bucolic Women

a poem by Sathya N K

She is an embody to a land and language
She carries along the culture and heritage
Her day starts earlier than him and night ends later than him
Her hands work larger than him and legs walk longer than him
First half of her life goes reliant on her blood relation
While the next half wanes functioning for new found connection
Knotted into these earthly errands
Never she lives for herself instead yield for her dwelling band
It’s a daily muted struggle happening within a family unit
Sometimes she does win not by conceit
But by flowing around relentlessly smoothening the barrier till it melts
As she proves her point to the in house cult
This is the state of present day women in bucolic regions
Yet one finds a smile on her face glittering in all seasons
Pleasure or pain she takes in her stride at ease
Symbol of determination endurance and earnestness she is.
